A Field Study on Married Female Students at the College of Humanities (Women's Section) in Zliten

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between early marriage and academic achievement motivation among married female students at the Faculty of Humanities for Girls in Zliten.  The study also identified the level of academic achievement motivation among these students, and determined the statistical differences in motivation levels among married students in both the department of special education and the department of English . The students engaged in this study are from the second semester up to the eighth semester.  The researchers employed a descriptive correlational approach. The sample consisted of 186 married students including 105 from the department of special education and 81 from the department of English. The researchers used the Early Marriage Scale (Shuwerif, 2022) and the Academic Achievement Motivation Scale (Al-Mushrafi, 2012). The study concluded that there is no statistically significant relationship between early marriage and academic achievement motivation among married students. In addition to that the study found that the level of academic achievement motivation is generally high among married students. However, there were no statistically significant differences in the level of academic achievement motivation between married female students in the special education department and English department. Similarly, there were no statistically significant differences in the level of academic achievement motivation among married female students in the special education department based on the semester variable in general. However, a statistically significant difference was found in the achievement orientation dimension among married female students in the special education department, favoring those in the advanced semester.
